Immediate Release
Ramara/February 22, 2021 - As COVID-19 trends and key health indicators across Ontario continue to improve, the Province has eased public health measures with additional changes expected on March 1. As a result, the Township of Ramara Administration office will be fully open to the public on March 1 at 9:00 a.m.
"The latest announcement from the Province demonstrates an important step toward better days ahead," states Mayor Clarke. "We are ready to welcome the public back into our facilities and resume normal operations. I want to thank Ramara residents and businesses for their patience and support over the past 23 months. We are hopeful that as restrictions ease over time, the Township will continue to offer more in-person services."
Residents are still encouraged to access online services and make appointments to meet with staff members to reduce wait times and ensure staff availability. When accessing the Administration Building, visitors must take the following precautions and conform to the following restrictions:
- Masks or a face covering are required at all times.
- Physical distancing measures will be in place.
Ramara Centre - Recreation Services
Recreation Services resumed in-person programming on February 15. The Province indicated its plan to lift proof of vaccination requirements on March 1 as long as public health indicators continue to improve. Until the Province makes that change, proof of full vaccination is still required for anyone 12 and older participating, spectating or instructing in a recreation program.
When accessing the Ramara Centre, visitors must take the following precautions and conform to the following restrictions:
- Participants must wear a mask when entering and exiting the facility. It is recommended to wear a mask while participating in programs.
- Participants must complete and pass the active screening tool.
- Participants 12 years of age and older must show proof of full vaccination with proper identification; some exceptions do apply.
- Follow all signage to indicate proper physical distancing, and use hand sanitizer available at the entrance and throughout the centre.
"The Township is ready to fully open to the public and has implemented all recommended safety measures necessary to ensure the safety of staff and public," states CAO Jessica Gunby. "Over the past two years, the Township has increased access to online services and developed a hybrid model format for Council and Committee meetings. With this advancement, residents and businesses have the flexibility and convenience of accessing services whenever and wherever they are. The Township will continue to make smart decisions and follow public health guidelines to ensure we continue to move in the right direction."
Residents are encouraged to visit the Township's website at www.ramara.ca for up-to-date information on services and programs. For up to date health-related information, please visit www.smdhu.org, or call the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit directly.
