NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
REGARDING DEVELOPMENT CHARGES
Take notice that on Monday, May 2, 2022, the Council of the Township of Ramara will hold a public meeting pursuant to The Development Charges Act, 1997, regarding the proposed development charges rates and policies that will be applied throughout the Township. It is proposed that the enactment of the development charges by-law by Council would occur on a date subsequent to the public meeting.
Development charges are levied against new development and are a primary source of funding for development-related capital expenditures. The 2022 Development Charges Background Study relates only to the provision of the Township’s soft services: Library Services, Parks and Recreation, and Development-related Studies.
Council is required under The Development Charges Act, 1997, to hold at least one public meeting to allow the public the opportunity to review and provide comments on the Development Charges Background Study, related staff reports/presentations, and the proposed development charges by-laws.
All interested parties are invited to attend the public meeting. Although, this meeting is intended to be held electronically, in-person attendance may be permitted, but may be limited due to public health and safety measures at the time of the meeting:

Any person may attend the public meeting and make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the by-law. Written submissions are invited and should be directed to Jennifer Connor, Director of Legislative Services/Clerk (jconnor@ramara.ca). Written comments received prior to the meeting and submissions made at the public meeting will be considered by Council prior to the enactment of the by-law. All submissions received will become part of a public record.

A copy of the 2022 Development Charges Background Study will be made available on the Township’s website on April 14, 2022 and may also be obtained from the Clerk’s Department, 2297 Highway 12, Brechin, Ontario L0K 1B0 (Monday to Friday 8:00AM to 4:00PM. The draft by-law will be also be made available at least two-weeks before the public meeting at the clerks office and on the Township’s website at www.ramara.ca.
