Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Celebrates the Grand Opening of Lovely Day Park
Ramara/June 20, 2022 - The new playground at Lovely Day Park officially opened on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with M.P. Adam Chambers, M.P.P. Jill Dunlop, members of Council, members of the Atherley Community Centre Board and the Atherley community.
M.P. Adam Chambers, M.P.P. Jill Dunlop and Mayor Basil Clarke provided their congratulatory remarks and well wishes. M.P.P. Jill Dunlop provided Steve Hinton, a long-time member of the Atherley Community Centre Board, a congratulatory certificate for the community board's hard work in the construction of a new playground for the Atherley and surrounding communities.
The new playground is situated on Creighton Street, southwest of Winchester Street and close to Ramara Fire Station 2. The new playground was developed and constructed with support from the Federal and Provincial governments through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure - Community, Culture and Recreation Stream. The playground design was finalized with input from the community and the Atherley Community Board and includes an accessible swing set, slides, climbers, double ring trek, and musical instruments.
