Birch Drive Road Reconstruction Project Update – Final Surface Treatment Works
The Township of Ramara would like to provide residents with an update on the Birch Drive Road Reconstruction Project.
The Township is pleased to announce that Duncor Enterprises Inc. has been awarded the contract for the final stage of the project. Work is expected to begin Tuesday, October 20, 2026, weather permitting, and will consist of applying a slurry seal surface treatment, the final step in the road reconstruction process.
A slurry seal is a protective surface treatment applied to surface-treated roads to improve durability, prevent moisture infiltration, and provide a smoother driving surface. This final bonding coat helps extend the life of the roadway while enhancing its overall appearance and performance.
The Township has completed road pulverization, base preparation, grading, addition of two layers of liquid asphalt and aggregate, and compaction.
During construction, residents may experience:
- Temporary lane restrictions and traffic delays.
- Reduced speed limits through the work zone.
- Construction equipment and workers operating within the project area.
- Minor, short-term access disruptions while the slurry seal is being applied and curing.
Residents and motorists are asked to follow all posted signage and exercise caution when travelling through the work zone.
