Candidates certified as Ramara prepares for 2026 Municipal Election

RAMARA, Ont./Aug. 24, 2026 – The Township of Ramara has certified the list of candidates for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, taking place Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, and would like to provide residents and property owners with information on the 2026 Election.

Eligible electors in Ramara will have the opportunity to vote for Mayor, Deputy Mayor, their respective Ward Councillor (where not acclaimed), and applicable School Board Trustee for the 2026–2030 term of office.

“Municipal elections give residents an opportunity to have a direct say in who represents their community and makes decisions about the local services and priorities that affect them,” said Rebecca Zanussi, Clerk and Returning Officer. “The 2026 Election is an accessible election, and the Township offers many opportunities for voting. With the candidates now certified, we encourage all eligible electors to make sure they are on the Voters’ List, learn about their voting options, and make a plan to cast their ballot.”

Get ready to vote
Residents are encouraged to prepare early for the election by:

• making sure they are on the Voters’ List and their information is correct;

• confirming which ward they are voting in;

• reviewing the list of certified candidates;

• learning about the available voting methods; and

• making a plan for when and how they will vote.

Make sure you are on the Voters’ List

Residents are encouraged to check that their name and information are correct on the Voters’ List. Any additions, changes, or removals must be completed directly with the Township of Ramara. For convenience, voters can submit an online form to check their information or request a change at ramara.ca/election. Alternatively, voters can contact the Township’s Election Team by email, phone, or in-person during business hours to assist with any registration inquiries.

Property owners/tenants and spouses who own or lease multiple properties, including where Ramara is not their main residence, are also eligible to vote in the 2026 Township of Ramara election and should review their Voters' List information to ensure they are registered at the appropriate property address or addresses.

Students, trailer owners, and people without fixed addresses may be eligible to vote in the Township of Ramara election. For questions about eligibility, please contact the Township’s Elections team.

How to vote in Ramara

Eligible electors will have several ways to cast their ballot in Ramara’s 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, including online and by telephone, or by paper ballot during designated advance voting dates.

Voter Information Letters will be mailed to all registered electors near the end of September, and will include a PIN for internet and telephone voting.

Online voting
Online voting will be available beginning Thursday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. and will remain open until Monday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. Eligible electors can vote anywhere, at any time, during the voting period using a computer, tablet or mobile device. Online voting will also be available at Voter Assistance Centres during operating hours and on public computers at Township of Ramara Public Library branches during regular operating hours.

Telephone voting

Telephone voting will be available beginning Thursday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. and will remain open until Monday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.

Advance voting – paper ballots

Electors who prefer to vote using a paper ballot can do so in person during three advance voting opportunities:

• Saturday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Ramara Administration Building (2297 Highway 12)

• Thursday, Oct. 15, 4 to 8 p.m. – Ramara Centre (5482 Highway 12)

• Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Ramara Centre (5482 Highway 12)

Paper ballots will not be available on Voting Day, Monday, Oct. 26. Electors voting on Voting Day can cast their ballot online or by telephone until 8 p.m.

Know your ward

The Township of Ramara is divided into five wards. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are elected by all eligible electors in Ramara, while each Ward Councillor is elected by eligible electors within their respective ward. Residents who are unsure which ward they live in can view ward boundaries and the Township’s ward map at ramara.ca/wards.

For residents who own multiple properties, their primary residence location will be the ward they can cast their ballot for. If property owners own multiple properties in different wards, but don’t reside at either, they will need to choose one ward to vote in.
