Flood Warning In Effect - April 14, 2026

The Township of Ramara is advising residents that the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has issued a Flood Warning for the Aurora Midhurst Owen Sound District until Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

This notice applies to areas including Ramara, Severn, Tiny, and Tay, as well as the Severn and Black Rivers around Washago, Sparrow Lake, and Lake St. John.

Residents and those visiting the area are advised to be aware of current watershed conditions. Higher than normal water levels and flow conditions are present throughout the area and residents are reminded to keep a close watch on weather conditions, regularly check for updated messages, and exercise caution near fast-moving rivers and streams.

Water levels in most lakes and rivers remain high with the recent precipitation and snowmelt and are expected to continue to remain high as runoff continues to enter the watersheds.

Residents and visitors should exercise caution while around waterbodies and maintain close supervision of children and pets.

Residents that have been affected by high water and flow conditions in the past should continue to take necessary action to protect/secure any vulnerable property in proximity to rivers and lakes and closely monitor developing conditions and regularly check for updated messages.

Residents in historically flood-prone areas should take precautions to protect vulnerable property and secure belongings where necessary.

Township crews are actively monitoring conditions and addressing drainage concerns where possible. Any impacts to roadways or municipal infrastructure will be shared through the Township website and official social media channels. Please note that sandbags are not provided by the Township unless a municipal emergency has been declared.

Residents are encouraged to take proactive steps to prepare for potential flooding and stay informed through the following resources:
