Have your say on Ramara wayfinding design concepts

Help create a consistent, welcoming and recognizable experience across the Township

Ramara, Ont. / Oct. 5, 2026 - What should it look like and feel like when you arrive in Ramara or travel between its communities? The Township of Ramara is inviting residents, businesses and visitors to weigh in on three design concepts developed as part of the Township’s new Wayfinding and Signage Strategy.

“Ramara is a large and diverse community, and our signage should do more than point people in the right direction. It should help create a sense of arrival and connection to our communities,” said Mayor Basil Clarke. “We want our wayfinding system to reflect the character that makes Ramara unique while making it easier for residents and visitors to discover everything our Township has to offer.”

Residents, businesses and visitors are encouraged to review all three concepts and share their feedback by Nov. 1, 2026. Visit ramara.ca/HaveYourSay to view the concepts and complete the online survey. Hard copies of the concepts and survey will also be available at the Ramara Centre and Township Administration Building.

The three concepts are:

·        Simcoe Sunrise – inspired by sunshine and blue waters.

·        Go With the Flow – inspired by Ramara’s waterfront and recreational lifestyle.

·        Feels Like Home – inspired by the rural and residential nature of Ramara.

The concepts build on Ramara’s logo and brand identity while exploring different ways to reflect the Township’s communities, landscapes and character. Each concept demonstrates how a coordinated design could be applied to Township gateways, settlement gateways, rural directional signs and urban directional signs.

Through a short online survey, participants will be asked to review and provide feedback on each concept, choose their favourite and share additional comments, ideas or suggestions. Feedback on elements such as shapes, colours, materials, graphic elements and the overall look and feel will help inform the preferred design direction.

Once a preferred design direction is determined through community feedback, the Township’s consultant, Pl.ural, will further develop the design and the Wayfinding and Signage Strategy for Council’s consideration in 2027. This will include developing a family of signs for uses such as community gateways, parks and trailheads, waterfront access, recreational and cultural facilities, directional signage, banners and informational kiosks. The strategy will also identify recommended sign locations, provide cost estimates and establish priorities for phased implementation.

Future signage will be guided by the priorities and recommendations identified through the final approved strategy and considered through the Township’s annual budget process.

The project was made possible with support from the County of Simcoe 2025 Tourism, Culture and Sport Enhancement Fund and will help strengthen the visitor experience while supporting tourism, economic development, community connectivity and a stronger sense of place throughout Ramara.
