Notice of the Adoption of an Official Plan for the Township of Ramara

TAKE NOTICE that on June 2, 2025, the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Ramara enacted Bylaw No. 2025.36 under Section 17 of the Planning Act to adopt a new Official Plan for the Township of Ramara.
Purpose and Effect
The new Township of Ramara Official Plan 2025 sets out goals, objectives and policies as a foundation for land use to 2051. The Plan will guide decisions made by Council, its committees and boards, and the public on land use and development, replacing the Township’s current Official Plan from 2003. Official Plan 2025 aligns with the County of Simcoe’s planning framework, including the Greenlands Designation. The Plan distinguishes between Village and Rural Settlement Areas to help direct future growth appropriately.
Key updates include:
- Incorporation of the Atherley-Uptergrove Secondary Plan
- Recent boundary changes to the Brechin and Lagoon City Settlement Areas
- New and updated mapping overlays including:
- Natural Heritage
- Floodplains
- Transportation
- Agricultural System
The Council of the Township of Ramara carefully considered both oral and written feedback from members of the public, stakeholders and agencies during the development of the new Official Plan. This input led to numerous edits and amendments to the Plan’s text and schedules before its final adoption.

The Plan is available for inspection and review at the Township of Ramara Municipal Office at 2297 Highway 12, Brechin, during normal business hours and can be found on the Township of Ramara website at www.ramara.ca/opr.
