Ramara Fire and Rescue Services recruiting Volunteer Firefighters

Ramara, Ont. / Oct. 9, 2026 – The Township of Ramara Fire and Rescue Services is looking for new members who are ready to answer the call and make a difference in their community.

Residents interested in becoming a Volunteer Firefighter are invited to attend an Open House on Oct. 15, with applications for the 2026 recruitment intake being accepted until Oct. 31.

“Ramara’s Volunteer Firefighters play an incredibly important role in keeping our community safe,” said Mayor Basil Clarke. “They are neighbours helping neighbours, stepping away from their families, jobs and everyday lives when our community needs them most. If you are looking for a meaningful way to give back, learn new skills and become part of a dedicated team, I encourage you to consider joining Ramara Fire and Rescue Services.”

Volunteer firefighting provides an opportunity to serve the community while developing valuable skills and experience in emergency response, teamwork and leadership. Volunteer Firefighters participate in regular training, respond to a variety of emergency situations and support fire prevention and public education activities throughout the Township.

“Being a Volunteer Firefighter takes commitment, but it is also an incredibly rewarding way to serve your community,” said Tony Stong, General Manager of Protective & Emergency Services/Fire Chief. “We are looking for people who are willing to learn, work as part of a team and be there for their neighbours when they need help. You don’t need to arrive with firefighting experience, we provide the training and support to become part of our team.”
