When burning:

  • Fires must be surrounded by non-combustible material.
  • Only organic and natural materials, such as brush and twigs, may be burned.
  • Treated wood, construction materials, household waste, and synthetic materials are prohibited.
  • The maximum fire size permitted is one cubic metre.
  • Fires must be located a minimum of five metres from any structure, combustible material, or property line.
  • Fires must be supervised by a competent person at all times and fully extinguished before being left unattended.
  • Smoke must not create a nuisance for neighbouring properties or impair visibility on roadways.
  • Weather conditions, including wind speed and direction, should be checked prior to burning to ensure the fire can be safely controlled.
  • Burning is not permitted when an air quality advisory is in effect.

Residents are encouraged to use caution and monitor conditions closely, as fire danger ratings can change based on weather and environmental conditions.
