Ready, set, hike! Youth flag football kicks off in Ramara this spring

Ramara, Ont. / March 20, 2026 – Calling all youth! The Township of Ramara is partnering with SportsKlub to deliver an exciting youth flag football program this spring, offering young players the chance to stay active, learn new skills, and have fun on the field.

“Programs like this are about creating opportunities for young people to stay active, build friendships, and enjoy being part of their community,” said Mayor Basil Clarke. “By partnering with organizations like SportsKlub and with the support of community sponsors, we’re able to keep programs affordable and accessible for youth in Ramara while creating positive recreation opportunities for families.”

Registration is now open for youth ages 8 to 14 from Ramara, Orillia, and surrounding communities.

Location: Ramara Centre Fields (5482 HWY 12)
Dates: Tuesdays, May 12 to June 16, 2026
Time: 5 to 7 p.m.
Registration Fee: $60

All registered participants will receive a team jersey, and the season will wrap up with a pizza party celebration for players. Participants can register online at sportsklub.ca/RamaraFootball or by visiting the recreation office at the Ramara Centre. The deadline to register is April 13, 2026, at 9 a.m.

SportsKlub is a community-based sports organization focused on creating fun, inclusive recreational leagues for both adults and youth. Their programming emphasizes sportsmanship, social connection, and providing welcoming environments where participants of all skill levels can enjoy being active.

“SportsKlub is all about bringing people together through sport,” said Tyler Evans, SportsKlub Founder. “We’re excited to collaborate with the Township of Ramara to provide flag football programming and create more opportunities for young people to get involved, stay active, and be part of a positive sports community.”

In addition to the flag football program, the Township offers a variety of recreation programs for children, youth and adults. Registration for spring programs is underway. Register now as programs fill up quickly. The Summer Camp Guide is now available. Registration for summer day camps begins April 1, 2026.
