As cleanup efforts continue across Ramara, Township crews remain focused on restoring normal conditions following this week's storm. We would like to thank residents for their patience, cooperation and the many neighbours who have been checking in on one another.
Cooling & Hydration Stations Open
To support residents affected by ongoing power outages and the current extreme heat, the Township has again opened the following facilities today as cooling areas:
• Township Administration Building (2297 Highway 12, Brechin) – open until 4:30 p.m.
• Ramara Centre (5482 Highway 12, Atherley) – open until 6 p.m.
Residents are welcome to visit these locations during operating hours to cool down, recharge and take refuge from the heat.
Roads & Cleanup
• Concession Road 2 has reopened.
• Lakeshore Drive remains closed between Simcoe Road and Concession Road 2 due to ongoing work in the area.
• A tree remains down at Concession Road 8 and Sideroad 15, and work in the area is ongoing.
Please continue to use caution when travelling, as crews remain active throughout Ramara. Some roads may still have tree debris along ditches and shoulders. These areas will continue to be cleaned up next week following the completion of priority roadway work.
Parks Update
Township crews will begin assessing and cleaning up parks next week, following the completion of priority roadway cleanup. Parks and waterfront areas along Lake Simcoe, from Atherley to the Talbot River, including municipally owned waterfront parks, may have storm-related debris or damage. Residents are encouraged to use caution when visiting these areas.
Generator Safety
With ongoing power outages, please continue to use generators safely:
• Never operate a generator inside your home, garage, shed or any enclosed space.
• Keep generators outdoors and well away from windows, doors and vents.
• Ensure your home has working carbon monoxide (CO) alarms.
• If your CO alarm sounds, or anyone experiences symptoms such as headache, dizziness or nausea, move to fresh air immediately and call 911.
Ramara Fire & Rescue Services continues to respond to generator-related calls following the storm. Please use generators safely to protect yourself and your family.
Power Line Safety
Stay at least 10 metres away from any downed power line. Always assume a fallen power line is energized and dangerous. Report downed power lines to Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
Report Township Hazards
To report hazardous road conditions, fallen trees or other Township infrastructure concerns, please call the Township at 705-484-5374 (option 9 after-hours).
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as crews continue storm cleanup.
