Township introduces resident parking E-Pass option
2026 parking passes are now available
Ramara, Ont. / March 16, 2026 – With spring just around the corner, the Township of Ramara is enhancing its resident parking program with the introduction of a new digital resident parking pass (E-Pass) option, making parking more convenient for residents while improving operational efficiencies for Bylaw Enforcement.
“Providing flexible, modern service options is an important part of enhancing the resident experience,” said Mayor Basil Clarke. “This new digital E-Pass offers added convenience while still preserving the traditional hanger option for those who prefer it.”
Beginning March 16, 2026, residents applying for their annual parking pass at ramara.ca/parking will be able to choose between a traditional physical hanger pass or a new digital E-Pass. The new digital pass links directly to a vehicle’s licence plate and no dashboard hanger is required.
Applications will continue to be reviewed by the Township to confirm eligibility. Once approved, residents who select the digital option will receive a link to HONK, the Township’s parking service provider, to enter their vehicle information and activate their pass. Confirmation is then provided electronically.
Application Process
1. Visit ramara.ca/parking
2. Select the Digital (E-Pass) option
3. Complete and submit the online application
4. The Township verifies eligibility
5. Approved applicants receive a link to HONK to create an account (email required) and enter their licence plate information
6. Receive confirmation via email and you’re ready to park
Residents who prefer the traditional hanger may continue using that option. This can be requested online or in person at the Township Administration Building (2297 Highway 12, Brechin).
From an enforcement perspective, the digital pass integrates with the Township’s existing parking technology. When conducting patrols, officers will use the same system currently used to confirm paid parking to verify whether a vehicle’s licence plate is registered with a valid resident digital pass.
“During patrols, licence plates are entered into the system just as they are today for paid parking,” said Tony Stong, General Manager of Emergency & Protective Services and Fire Chief. “The system will indicate whether a digital resident pass is active, eliminating concerns about hangers falling off dashboards or being forgotten.”
By linking permits directly to licence plates, the program reduces common compliance issues while allowing officers to confirm validity efficiently from within their vehicles, improving both effectiveness and safety.
Resident parking passes are required to park for free in various municipal lots and on-street locations throughout the Township. A map of locations is available at ramara.ca/parking.
Ramara residents and property owners can apply for two resident parking passes free of charge. An additional third parking permit can be purchased for $25 (plus HST). If you are applying for the third permit online, a 4.5 per cent convenience fee will apply.
