Township shares reminders on staying informed and engaged
There are many ways to stay informed and connected with the Township of Ramara
Ramara, Ont. / Jan. 9, 2026 – With the first regular Council meeting of the year scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, the Township of Ramara is reminding residents of the many ways they can follow Council meetings, access agendas and minutes, and stay informed about municipal activities throughout the year.
“The start of a new year is a good opportunity for residents to become more familiar or reconnect with their local government,” said Mayor Basil Clarke. “Council decisions affect our community every day, and information such as agendas, meeting livestreams, and participation opportunities are available to help residents stay informed and engaged.”
Council, Committee, Board, and Commission Meetings
Council meetings, including Committee of the Whole, are generally held twice monthly on Mondays, except when Monday is a statutory holiday. There is one Council meeting per month in July, August, and December.
- Regular meetings begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers at the Administration Building, 2297 Highway 12, Brechin and may be streamed live on the Township’s YouTube channel.
- Occasionally, Special Meetings of Council are called to deal with matters outside of the regular Council schedule.
- A Council Information Package (CIP) is circulated weekly on Fridays and includes communications from the public, organizations, committees, and municipal staff.
- Various Township committee, board and commission meetings also take place regularly.
The Township of Ramara’s Meeting Portal provides public access to agendas, minutes, CIPs and bylaws. Regular Council meeting agendas are published on the portal by noon on the Friday prior to the scheduled meeting. Residents can also subscribe to receive Council and Committee agendas by email as soon as they are published. The full 2026 Council Meeting Schedule can be viewed at ramara.ca/CouncilMeetings.
To ensure information is accessible to all residents, those without access to the internet can visit the Township Administration Building during regular business hours to use the public computer to view Council agendas, minutes, bylaws, and other Township information. Residents may also contact the Township by phone at 705-484-5374 or in person for assistance accessing Council materials or municipal services.
