Common Fill Bylaw exemptions include:
- The placing or dumping of soil on lands for the purpose of lawn dressing, landscaping or adding to flower beds or vegetable gardens, provided that:
- No more than 30 centimetres of soil is placed on the land.
- The elevation of land is not changed within 1 metre of any property line.
- There is no change in any natural watercourses, drainage, ditches or swales.
- Materials added meet or exceed the parameters of Part XV.1 of the Environmental Protection Act.
- The placing and dumping of fill to return to the existing grade and elevation when removing a structure that has received a demolition permit.
- The alteration of an aggregate site of a licensed pit or quarry as per the Aggregate Resources Act.
- The alteration of a site that has a valid building permit and has received site plan approval.
