Historical Information

Ramara Historical Society

The group was founded in 2004 out of a desire to collect, research, document and preserve material illustrating the founding, settlement and development of the former townships of Rama and Mara, now known as the Township of Ramara.

Highlights include the Yesteryears celebration which includes a day long festival celebrating Ramara's past. You can also find members participating in various parades and fairs, often in period clothing. The group meets twice per month at the Udney Community Centre to share collections and listen to speakers on a variety of historical highlights.

More information can be found on Ramara Historical Society website.

Simcoe County Archives

The Simcoe County Archives manage Ramara's permanent records along with all municipalities in Simcoe County. Located in Midhurst, files are transferred on a yearly basis and are preserved at the site. Documents are accessible to the public by contacting them directly. Fees and charges may apply. For more information contact the Simcoe County Archives.

Churches and Cemeteries

There are a number of churches in the Township in the many serving our rural communities. As well, Ramara maintains several cemeteries within our borders.
