Update: Water Conservation Notice Lifted - March 13, 2026

Update: 9:00 a.m. March 13, 2026 - Water Conservation Notice Lifted

The Township of Ramara would like to thank residents for their cooperation and patience following the recent water conservation notice issued on March 11 caused by heavy precipitation and snow melt.

The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA), which operates the Township’s water and wastewater systems, has advised that conditions have stabilized and water conservation measures are no longer required at this time.

Residents may resume normal water use.

The Township appreciates the community’s assistance in helping maintain safe drinking water, adequate storage levels, and system pressure during this period.

Brechin Water Fill Station

The Brechin Bulk Water Fill Station has returned to normal operation and is available for use.

Township staff and OCWA will continue to monitor conditions to ensure the continued safety and reliability of the municipal water system.

Thank you again to residents for your patience and cooperation.

Update: 4:50 p.m. March 11, 2026 - Please note that due to the heavy precipitation and snow melt, temporary water restrictions will remain in effect until further notice. We appreciate your patience as we continue to monitor the situation.

The Township of Ramara is issuing a water conservation notice due to declining water quality in the lake water (before treatment). Residents are urged to conserve water and avoid non-essential water use during this period.

By limiting your water usage, you will help maintain safe drinking water including sufficient water storage and system pressure.

Natural factors like high precipitation and severe weather can stir up sediment in the raw water. The water treatment facility utilizes a direct filtration process, which means that treating water during these weather events takes additional time.

Bulk Water Fill Station Temporarily Out of Service

Due to current water use restrictions, the Bulk Water Fill Station in Brechin is temporarily out of service.

What to do:

  • Conserve Water: Limit your water usage to essential needs only, such as drinking, cooking, and basic hygiene.
  • Avoid Non-Essential Water Use: Refrain from activities like using dishwashers or washing machines.
  • Stay Informed:  Check for updates from the Township on the website via the New and Notices page and Alertable.
