Parking in Ramara

Whether you're visiting, working, or living in Ramara, Township parking services are designed to make your experience safe, convenient, and accessible. Here you'll find information about available parking locations, permit options, enforcement guidelines, and seasonal regulations. Explore the resources below to help you navigate parking with confidence.

Parking is available throughout Ramara in designated municipal lots and along some streets. From November 15 to April 15, 2025, overnight parking on all Township roads is prohibited between midnight and 7 a.m., according to By-law No. 2016.56.

Pay a Parking Ticket

Looking to pay a parking ticket? Payments for parking tickets are accepted by online, in-person, through online banking, or by mail.

Credit Card

  • Pay online through PaySimply. This secure, third-party payment provider applies a convenience fee to cover processing charges. Payments will be processed in two-to-five business days.
  • Enter Account Details
  • Account Number starts with the number 200000 followed by the ticket number (e.g. if the ticket number is 1134, then the account number is 2000001134).

Does the Township of Ramara Retain Any of the Fees Being Charged?

No, the fee that PaySimply assesses covers their cost of processing payments. The Township does not receive any portion of this fee. 

If I Make a Payment Online With My Credit Card, How Long Does It Take for the Payment to Go Through?

Normal credit card processing times apply. Payments are approved instantly, and processing make take from two-to-five business days. 

Is There a PaySimply Mobile App?

Yes! On the app you can save your credit card to make convenient repeat payments, and setup notifications to be reminded when your payments are due.

Online/Telephone Banking

  • Set up payment through a financial institution.
  • Search "Ramara General Receivables" for payee type.
  • Enter 200000 followed by the ticket number for Account Number (e.g. if the ticket number is 1134, then the account number is 2000001134).

Cheque/Money Order

  • Make cheques or money order Payable to "Township of Ramara."
  • Write your ticket number starting with the number '200000' on the front of the cheque/money order (e.g. if the ticket number is 1134, then the account number is 2000001134).
  • Cheques or money order can be mailed or dropped off in outside mail slot at the Township of Ramara Administration Building.
  • Payments are recorded as the date it is received, and not the date it is mailed.

Township of Ramara Bylaw officers may issue a parking ticket if you don't follow the rules of the parking bylaws.

Resident Permit Parking Program

Resident parking permits can be used for designated on-street parking and municipal lot locations.

Parking Permits can be used at the following municipal lots:

  • Bluebird Park (open winter to fall)
  • Lagoon City Beach and Park (open spring to fall)
  • The Steps (open spring to fall)

On-Street Permit Parking is located in the following areas in the Township of Ramara:

  • On all municipal roadways within Lagoon City (starting at the intersection of Ramara Road 47 and Simcoe Road)
  • Lagoon City Trailhead on Laguna Parkway.
  • On Lakeshore Drive and all intersecting side streets from Simcoe Road to Concession Road A. This does not include Concession Roads.
  • On-street parking on the following roads:
    • Anderson Avenue
    • Barnstable Road
    • Bonnie Beach Road
    • Courtland Street
    • Edgehill Road
    • Glenrest Drive
    • Harry's Lane
    • John Street
    • Leo Crescent
    • Peter Street
    • Sideroad 25
    • Southview Drive
    • Tuppy Drive
    • Whitney Road

Please note in some areas parking restrictions may apply. Please refer to all posted signage in the area.

Make sure to hang your resident parking permit face up on your car's mirror with the corresponding vehicle licence plate number.

Reciprocal Permit Programs

Please be advised that at this time there are no reciprocal permit programs in place with surrounding municipalities or cities, including the Township of Severn and the City of Orillia. Ramara residents visiting surrounding areas must refer to all posted signage for parking requirements. 

Applying for a Resident Parking Permit

Applying for the resident parking passes is available online or in person at the Township Administration Building, located at 2297 Highway 12, Brechin.

Ramara residents and property owners can apply for two resident parking passes free of charge. An additional third parking permit can be purchased for $25 (plus HST). If you are applying for the permit online, a 4.5% convenience fee will apply. Please note that you cannot park in the permit parking areas until you receive your permit.

Special Occasion Parking Permit

Residents may apply for a Special Occasion Parking Permit for visitors to park on Township streets. Applications are only available online, and once approved, permits need to be printed and displayed on the driver's side dash.

A resident must apply seven days in advance for the permit, and the permit is only valid on the street or at or near the municipal address as indicated on the permit. 

Paid Parking

Residents without a Resident Parking Permit or visitors to Ramara are required to pay for parking in applicable on-street or municipal lot locations.

On-Street Paid Parking

  • West side of Courtland Street from Lake Simcoe to a safe spot on the road north of Orkney Beach Road.
  • Lake Avenue from Simcoe Road north to a safe spot on the road.
  • Lagoon City Trailhead on Laguna Parkway.

Municipal Lot Locations

Paid parking is available at the following municipal lot locations:  

  • Municipal parking lots at Lagoon City Beach and Park and Bluebird Park.
  • The Trailhead Parking area on Laguna Parkway.
  • On-street parking on Lakeshore Drive from Simcoe Road to Maple Trail.
  • On-street parking on the west side of Courtland Street from Lake Simcoe to a safe spot on the road north of Orkney Beach Road.

  • Fees: $5 per hour
  • No on-street parking between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., seven days a week
  • No parking at municipal lots between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., seven days a week

Contactless payments can be made on-site at the three waterfront municipal lot locations by Visa, Mastercard, or Visa debit. Signage is posted in parking areas providing payment instructions, or you can download the Honk App to your mobile device. 

 How to Use HonkTAP

The HonkTAP payment option allows drivers to safely pay for parking with a scan of their phone. To pay using HonkTAP, follow the following instructions:

  1. Scan the QR code on the sign (open up your camera app and hold your device over the QR code).
  2. Tap on the pop-up notification to open up a payment screen that is pre-loaded with the rate options.
  3. Type in your licence plate and select how long you want to park.
  4. Done

 How to Use the HonkTAP

For those who love using an app, HonkTAP is another contactless payment option for drivers who wish to pay for parking and manage a session directly from their phone. Drivers can pay via Apply Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and all major credit cards. They also can opt to receive text reminders when their parking is set to expire and can add more time to their parking sessions. 

  1. Download the HonkTAP app
  2. Open app and create a login
  3. Enter the Zone ID or search by address
  4. Select how long you want to park
  5. Enter licence plate
  6. Pay
  7. Done

Who Has to Pay for Parking?
 All visitors and residents without parking permits are required to pay.
When and Where Will Paid Parking Be In Effect?
Paid parking is in effect at Bluebird Park in the winter between the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
How Do I Pay Without a Data Plan?
If you have a device but do not have a data plan, you can download the HonkTAP app from any public Wi-Fi hotspot prior to coming to the municipal lot location.

  4. Select how long you want to park

Parking Restrictions

  • Municipal Parking Lots can be found at the following locations:

    • Bluebird Park
    • Lagoon City Beach and Park
    • The Steps

    The following restrictions are in place:

    • No overnight parking (10 p.m. to 7 a.m.)
    • No commercial vehicle parking
    • No unattached trailer parking
    • Valid Resident Parking Permit required or payment of daily parking fee:
      • $5 per hour

On-street parking is available along many streets in the Township of Ramara. Please check the area you would like to park for signs indicating any parking restrictions.

On-street parking in the waterfront areas are classified into three areas:

  • Permit Parking Zone
  • Paid Parking Zone
  • No Parking Zone

On-street parking in paid parking zones is prohibited between 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

On-street parking is prohibited on all streets overnight (from midnight to 7 a.m.) during the winter months (November 15 to April 15).

Please note that parking permits are not valid in no parking zones where signs are posted.
