Program Cancellations

From time to time, the Township of Ramara may find it necessary to cancel programs for a variety of reasons. 

One of the most frequent reasons for program cancellations is low participation numbers. If you see a program you are interested in, please register early to ensure we have the numbers to run the program! Decisions on programs are usually made one week before they start.

Less often it may be necessary to cancel programs due to instructor or venue unavailability. If you see a program is no longer available to register after a program guide has been released for that season, it will be listed on this webpage. If we have to cancel a program, we try to place it back in the next season. 

Sometimes a facility may become temporarily unavailable or an instructor has a conflict or becomes ill. Winter weather is also a factor, typically during the months of January through March. In all cases, the Township makes every effort to make up the class at a later date.

Often, program cancellations due to weather come late in the day. All efforts will be made to contact participants in case of cancellation. Please ensure we have the correct numbers to get in touch with you. The Township also changes the voicemail message on the Ramara Centre outgoing message and posts the changes to our website or on our social media. Know before you go!

Please note that if your class is at a school property and the buses have been cancelled, your class is not necessarily cancelled. The school board makes determinations on community use later in the day and will choose to close school facilities independent of bus cancellations. Program Refund Requests

Seasonal Programs

Program withdrawal and refund requests for seasonal programs must be made by completing the Refund Request Form. Your completed form must be brought to Ramara Centre or emailed to recreation@ramara.ca. Refund request forms will be processed according to the criteria outlined below. Once approved, please allow four to six weeks for refund processing. Submission of a form does not guarantee that a refund will be issued, and non-attendance of a program does not constitute a notice of withdrawal.

TIMELINE  REFUND OFFER 

Withdrawal Prior To Program Start 

Refunds/Credits will be issued up to seven days prior to the start of a program with an admin charge of 10%.

Withdrawal After Program Start

If a refund request is received up to the second day of the program, you will receive a pro-rated refund, less a 10% admin charge.

Medical Withdrawal

Medical refund requests must be accompanied by a doctor's note and the 10% admin fee will be waived.

Cancellation of Program

If the Township cancels your program for any reason, you are eligible for full refund without penalty.

Removal from Program

If a participant is removed by an instructor due to incompatibility or incidence, you will receive a pro-rated refund for any classes remaining after the date of removal.

Rare Exceptions

Handled on a case-by-case basis.

No Refunds After Program Mid-Point

Refunds will be pro-rated based on the number of classes left in the recreation program at the time the request is received, regardless of the day the registrant stopped attending the recreation program.
