Road Name Review

The Township is renaming certain roads to align with recommendations from the Fire Master Plan. The goal is to improve emergency response by reducing confusion and making addresses easier to identify and locate.

For Phase 2, the road name changes will take effect on October 28, 2026.

No. Your municipal green blade (911) will remain the same. Only the road name is changing.

Yes. Emergency service providers and dispatch systems will be notified and updated with the changes.

Yes. Residents are responsible for notifying banks, insurance providers, utility companies, subscription services, employers, healthcare providers and any other organizations that use their mailing address.

Yes. Canada Post will forward mail addressed to your previous road name to your new address for one (1) year following the effective date of this change.

The Township will update its internal records and communicate the address change to the County of Simcoe and MPAC. However, residents are still responsible for updating their address with other organizations and service providers.

No. Since your municipal number is not changing, your existing green blade sign can remain in place.

The Township encourages residents to submit address updates to services such as Google Maps and Apple Maps to help ensure navigation systems relfect the new road name as quickly as possible.

Yes. The Township is scheduled to replace the road name signs for the effective date.

Residents can suggest edits directly through Google Maps:

1. Open Google Maps on your computer or mobile device.
2. Search for your road and zoom to the affected area.
3. Select "Suggest an Edit".
4. Choose "Change name or Other details".
5. Enter the new road name.
6. Submit the change for review.

Google reviews all submissions before publishing updates, so changes may not appear immediately.

Residents can report map corrections directly through Apple Maps:

On iPhone or iPad:

1. Open the Apple Maps app.
2. Navigate to the affected road.
3. Tap your profile picture or account icon.
4. Select "Reports" or "Report an Issue".
5. Choose "Street Issue" or "Map Issue".
6. Provide the new road name and submit the report.

On Mac:

1. Open Apple Maps.
2. Select "Maps".
3. Select "Report an Issue" from the menu.
4. Identify the affected road and provide the updated road name.
5. Submit the report.

Apple reviews submissions before making updates to the map database.

The Township will update its own records and notify applicable agencies; however, map providers do not always process municipal changes immediately. Resident submissions can help improve the accuracy and speed of updates in Google Maps and Apple Maps.
