Road Occupancy Permit

Road Occupancy Permits (ROP) are required for any work, activities event or temporary use (with the exception of entrances) that occupies, obstructs or affects a Township of Ramara road allowance. ROP applications can be submitted online.

Depending on your location, you may need to obtain an ROP permit either from the County of Simcoe for County roads, from the Ministry of Transportation for provincial highways or from the Chippewas of Rama First Nation.

Application Process

  1. A completed road occupancy permit application, along with the required fee, must be submitted at least 10 business days before the proposed work. Fees may be paid online, by mail, or in person at the Township Administration Building (see Fees and Charges Bylaw No. 2025.74).
  2. Following receipt of the application and payment, the proposal will be reviewed and a site inspection will be conducted to identify any requirements or conditions of approval.
  3. Proof of liability insurance naming the Township as an additional insured, WSIB coverage, and a traffic protection plan shall be provided to the Township.
  4. Upon completion of the work or activity, the affected area must be restored to the satisfaction of the Township. A final inspection will then be conducted.
