Ramara/Aug 30, 2024 – Today, the new multi-use court at Lovely Day Park in Atherley officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with M.P. Adam Chambers, M.P.P. Jill Dunlop, members of the Council, members of the Atherley Community Centre Board and the Ramara community. The construction and development of the court was made possible with the collaborative support of the Federal and Provincial governments through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure – Community, Culture, and Recreation Stream.
"We are truly thankful for the generous financial support from both the Federal and Provincial governments through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure – Community, Culture, and Recreation Stream program. This funding, which covers a large portion of the costs, has made the construction of the multi-use sports court a reality. Given the considerable popularity of pickleball in Ramara and its high demand at the Ramara Centre, the establishment of outdoor spaces for residents during the spring to fall months presents a remarkable opportunity for the township. Furthermore, I wish to extend recognition to the diligent efforts of the Atherley Community Centre Board, which has been instrumental in advocating and planning for outdoor and active recreation facilities within the Atherley area. This space will enhance outdoor recreation opportunities in Ramara, serving all children, youth, adults, and seniors within the community."
